Cégep André-Laurendeau

Project Description

Cégep André-Laurendeau

LaSalle

The project

After felling 28 diseased trees on its property, Cégep André-Laurendeau was forced by the Borough of LaSalle to replace them. Delighted by GRAME’s development proposal and the savings made possible by the ICI, on verdit! campaign, the college decided to take the opportunity to plant not 28, but 150 trees from 36 different species, in addition to 30 bushes!

Most of the trees were planted in the wooded area along the boundary of the Cégep. The institution wanted to beautify its site and provide students with access to an arboretum, so that they could learn to identify various species in their ecology classes. The other trees were planted near the parking lots and picnic tables of the Cégep and the CIMME, as well as in the yard of the college’s daycare. Their main objective is to provide shade and limit heat islands. The children at the daycare can now grow up in a greener environment and get to know buds and blossoms, insects gathering pollen and the colours of fall !
