École Gentilly

Project Description

École Gentilly

Dorval

The project

Mindful of the people affected by its operations, Aéroports de Montréal wanted to give back to the community by making this planting possible at École primaire Gentilly, a primary school under the path of certain fights. Therefore, about 15 students and parents from this school donned their snowsuits to participate in this planting of about forty trees organized by GRAME.

This project aimed to reduce aircraft noise, as well as improve the playground layout by creating an environment that encourages outdoor activities. The project’s goals were also to make the schoolyard more private by creating a vegetation barrier between the school and the residences around it, as well as improve the school’s facades, which they wanted to beautify. Finally, the project included a space for planting fruit trees, to help kids and their teachers bond with one another during various activities, such as fruit picking.

The GRAME team paid particular attention to the selection of species, focusing on trees resistant to the impact children could have on them (balls, scooters, etc.).
